ADULT HEARING ASSESSMENTS

A normal adult hearing assessment consists of several tests that describe your hearing health.

  1. Pure tone audiogram - A pure tone audiogram is the cornerstone of most hearing assessments. This test identifies how softly you can hear across a wide range of sounds.
  2. Speech tests - A speech discrimination test is a measure of the patient's ability to understand speech when it is presented at a level that is easily heard.
  3. Middle ear tests – Tympanometry is a test that measures the function and movement of the eardrum and middle ear using gentle pressure changes.

HEARING TESTS FOR CHILDREN

We test children from the age of three years old, although this can vary depending upon development.

Hearing tests for children over the age of three have similar goals to those conducted for adults. The methods vary depending upon the age and development of the child.

Between the age of 3 and 6 we use a play style of Audiometry, where response to sound are part of a game. For children above 6 years old the assessment is more similar to an adult test.

We are also offer industrial screening assessments, pre-employment, and commercial drivers and aviation assessments.
